Linguistic minoritization: cases, experiences and answers in Europe
Far from being a natural phenomenon, pressure against minoritized languages results from linguistic and cultural governance, typically protective of dominant languages while restrictive toward those of minority communities.
At a time of rising authoritarian nationalism and conflict in Europe, adding pressure to budgets and salience of culture, langauge and minorty recognition, defending linguistic diversity is more important than ever: The event features Montserrat Sendra presenting her new study on digital diglossia, alongside talks by Ukrainian historian Hanna Perekhoda and Icelandic researcher Ari Páll Kristinsson.
