Anti-Fascism Today: Memory, Alternatives and Global Struggle. In Mallorca, in Europe, in the World

Events / Fri 21 Nov 2025 17:00

Fifty years after Franco’s death in 1975, the anniversary highlights new challenges, including a rise in populism, political distrust, and social issues like housing and precarious employment. The legacy of the dictatorship continues to be debated through events and discussions about historical memory and democratic values.

Over two days, the international conference “Anti-Fascism Today: Memory, Alternatives and Global Struggle. In Mallorca, in Europe, in the World” will take place on 21–22 November 2025 at CineCiutat and s’Escorxador Cultural Center in Mallorca. Participants will engage in workshops, presentations, and roundtables exploring how civil society supported the transition from dictatorship to democracy. Through case studies and comparative perspectives, the conference will reflect on strategies, alliances, and forms of resistance that helped shape democratic renewal across different countries.

The event will be conducted in English, Spanish, and Catalan.
